Great anecdote on the official website:
In 1941 Cage got a commission for CBS Radio to write music for a radio play. Initially Cage composed work, based on his ideas using electronic sound effects, assuming this could be realized in the CBS studios. A week before the radio broadcast, Cage went over to make the recordings, but since the technician told him it could not be done in such a short time, Cage had to compose another work, just four days before its broadcast. The original manuscript is probably lost.
Our colleagues of Mantra Percussion made a great video about Michael Gordon’s ‘Timber’. See them play this piece in a hardware store, and explain some details about the piece.
Click the image above, or here to see the video.
We’ve still got some copies of the special wooden box edition of ‘Timber’ available at our website. Get them while they last.
On the 12th of October 2010, Slagwerk Den Haag and VocaalLab, had the privilege to play music together with the children of Orquesta Barrio Luduena. We played Clapping Music and “in C”. They will be in our hearts!
We played a cool lab project in Korzo with Conservatory students, called KOnStruct.1
Below’s a rehearsal video of a piece we did.
